Acne - 3 Reasons You Should Never Use Chemical Peel

I know how does it feel if you are suffering from acne disease. Every acne sufferer's search for cure starts from quick results and gradually ends with natural treatments. There is only one thing that remains constant during this time and that is our quest to ultimate acne solution. And big pharmaceutical companies prey on us for this.

The latest product in line for us are chemical peelers. Here's my lowdown of what they are and why they pose threat in curing acne.

What is Chemical/skin peeling?

As the name suggest these are chemicals applied directly on your face. Their job is to burn off top layer of your skin until it can be peeled off, thus starting the process of skin regeneration. In technical terms it solely means creating a new collagen layer by removing the earlier one from the skin.

This isn't my version of definition, it's what they are meant to do. Don't you think its illogical to actually go for something like this.

There are three types of chemical peels based on their ability to remove live skin surface:

- Alphahydroxy acids (AHAs): It's mildest form of peel

- Trichloroacetic acid (TCA): Stronger than AHA

- Phenol solutions: Strongest among them

Reasons to say no to them:

1. Food and Drug Authority has found that the chemicals used in skin peelers might be dangerous. They have received many reports of brutal side-effects across the United States. In fact people carried out few tests with the chemicals used in these peels over their arms and legs and complained about skin irritation, itching and mild burns.

2. Temporary solution to acne problem: This whole process of peeling only involves chemical application on acne affected skin. So it is only responsible to peel off the skin. It has no answer to permanent acne cure. Your new skin will again be prone to acne outbursts with in a few months time.

3. It can cause severe irritation, inflammation, sensitivity to light, painful sores and redness that can last for up to a week. It might be mandatory not to expose your skin to the sun for initial days of treatment.

If you are using or inclined to go for this treatment then its advisable to consult your dermatologist and should get it done only from legitimate medical practitioner.
